Tita

Tita Hutchison - Lead Vocals

Her voice has been described as: soulful with a rock edge, powerful, and emotive. Tita has always loved to sing.

At the age of 16, Tita Hutchison had her first single “Every Now and Then” which was already being played on the radio.

"I'm incredibly lucky in that singing came fairly easy for me. I know that sounds weird and a little snotty, and I truly don't mean it to be taken that way. I've just always loved to do it! I never thought about how I sounded I'd just let er rip and luckily I was in tune! When we were little Dad would record my brother and I singing songs and I would automatically harmonize whatever it was we were singing, sometimes to my brother’s frustration. Who needs a harmonized version of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star or Row, Row, Row, Your Boat”!

Even with all her early singing it wasn't until Tita attended her first concert that she realized music was her true passion. Standing there in the balcony watching the band in front of her, it hit her like nothing had ever done before. "It was one of those moments like in the movies where the world around you goes completely still. It was just me, and the band. And then the "Aha" moment happened: That's it! That's what I want to do! The band was on fire having the time of their life and the audience was right there with them! It was purest thing I had ever seen or experienced. I had seen the light and there was no going back!" Tita then promptly immersed herself in all the music she could, listening to a diverse range of classics to feed her appetite: Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, Sam Cooke, Journey, Patti Smith, Beatles, Otis Redding, Frank Sinatra, Tom Waits, Chet Baker to name a few… She sang along with every record studying every nuance. "I'm such a music fan that when I hear an artist that I like, I research who they were influenced by and check that out. It's taken me down some amazing musical roads."

After high school, Tita moved to LA to pursue her dreams (Tita grew up in Hawaii by the way). And like many hopefuls it had its highs and lows. At one point she even gave up altogether and moved to Berkeley, CA to see what the non-artistic life was like. That didn't last long. "I call that my 'lost weekend.' It wasn't an easy time but I don't regret a moment. I had a lot of learning and growing up to do. Still do!"

Tita has recorded and toured backing artists signed to major labels such as Capitol, Columbia, Sony, and Hollywood records, she's sung jingles, commercials, voice overs, demos, performed in bands of almost any genre you can think of, all while working two jobs and teaching.  Tita’s recording and live performance credits include work with industry legends, such as Rick Rubin, Herbie Hancock, Keith Forsey (Billy Idol, Simple Minds), Brian Malouf (Michael Jackson, Def Leppard, Madonna), Shooter Jennings, Foreigner, Paul Anka, and Michael Thompson. Tita’s voice can be heard on commercials, radio, TV and film productions for industry giants such as: Calvin Klein, FOX and ABC Family in both the U.S. and Japan.  "I love singing, period. The more diverse the better! I enjoy the challenge of learning something new and different and getting as close as I can to that style."

Looking ahead, she had this to say, "This year is going to be amazing and I can't wait! I just released my first solo EP of my own music. Nothing co-written for anyone else, just me. It's been a longtime coming and I'm very excited. I've had the pleasure and great luck to have some amazing musicians work on it and I'm giddy and a little "fan girl" about it. In addition I have some really exciting opportunities right now with - as a bonus - happen to be some of the most amazing human beings a girl could ever know. It feels like the timing is right and I'm ready for it. The bottom line is: I truly love to do what I do. I live for it and am grateful for every moment I get to sing."
